La coalition de gauche a obtenu un résultat historique aux élections législatives de ce dimanche 13 mars en Colombie, selon des résultats officiels partiels publiés en soirée et portant sur plus de 93% des bulletins dépouillés. Trois primaires – de la gauche, de la droite et du centre-droit avaient également lieu.
Le « Pacte historique», principale force d’opposition au gouvernement conservateur sortant, obtient 17 sièges au Sénat sur 102, où il arrive en tête des votes avec 14,52%, devant toutes les autres formations traditionnelles, conservateurs et libéraux.
À la Chambre basse des représentants, la coalition de gauche dirigée par Gustavo Petro obtient 25 sièges de députés sur 165, en seconde position derrière le Parti libéral (32), mais au coude-à-coude avec les conservateurs et avec le plus grand nombre de votes, selon ces mêmes résultats.
« Le Pacte historique a obtenu les meilleurs résultats du progressisme dans l’histoire de la République de Colombie », s’est félicité son chef, lui-même désigné triomphalement le jour même, au terme de primaires à l’échelle nationale, comme représentant de la gauche à la présidentielle du 29 mai. Il s’est imposé avec 80,23% des voix à la tête du « Pacte historique » face à l’afro-environnementaliste Francia Marquez (15%). « Nous sommes sur le point de remporter la présidence dès le premier tour », a assuré Gustavo Petro.
